Lexington Avenue Roadway Improvements

INVITATION FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the TOWNSHIP OF MAPLEWOOD in the County of ESSEX, New Jersey for the LEXINGTON AVENUE ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS. The project generally consists of ADA Ramp Construction, Drainage Improvements and Road Resurfacing. The approximate major pay items for the Base Bid are as follows: 7,500 SY OF MILLING, 1,050 TONS OF HMA SURFACE COURSE, 2,700 LF OF DRAINAGE PIPE, 44 NEW DRAINAGE STRUCTURES, 3,600 LF OF CURB and 1,400 SY OF CONCRETE SIDEWALK. The approximate major pay items for the Alternates Bids are as follows: 3,500 SY OF MILLING and 500 TONS OF HMA SURFACE COURSE.

The awarded bidder shall be required to complete all drainage improvements prior to the end of the year and resurface the road when the asphalt plants reopen in 2023. PROJECT IS SUBJECT TO NJDOT APPROVAL.

Contract documents may be accessed at no charge by contacting bbarnett@maplewoodnj.gov. Prospective bidders will be required to provide their name, address, telephone number, fax number and email address to be used if addenda are required.  Bids will be received at the office of the Township Engineer at 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040 until:

August 30, 2022 at 11:00am, prevailing time

Bids will be made on standard proposal forms in the manner designated therein as required by the specifications, must be enclosed in envelopes (outer and inner), both of which shall be sealed and clearly labeled with the words CONTRACT BID DOCUMENTS, name of project, name and address of Bidder and date and time of bid opening, and addressed to Township Engineer at 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040.

Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of NJSA 10:5-31 et seq. and NJAC 17:27

All Bidders must submit to the Township a Business Registration Certificate issued by the New Jersey Division of Revenue, PL 2004 c.57 (NJSA 52:32-44) and NJSA 40A:11-23.2, with their Bid.

Simultaneously with the submission of bids, the corporation or partnership so bidding will furnish a statement setting forth the names and addresses of all stockholders in the corporation or partnership who own ten percent (10%) or greater therein pursuant to Chapter 33, P.L. 1977. Bids will be REJECTED if they do not contain this disclosure statement.

Bidders are notified that they must pay workmen the prevailing wage rate as determined by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Industry for the project, pursuant to the "New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act" - Chapter 150 of the Laws of 1963.

If awarded a contract, your company/firm shall be required to comply with the requirements of NJSA 10:5-31 et seq. and NJAC 17:27.

The right is hereby reserved to reject any and all bids or any part thereof or to waive any minor informalities or irregularities and to accept any bid or bids if deemed in the best interest of the Township of Maplewood to do so.
