The Assistant CFO currently serves as the Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) for the Township of Maplewood. The QPA is responsible for the development and issuing of Requests for Bid, Requests for Proposals, and Requests for Qualifications. The QPA also maintains a Purchasing Manual for the Township and trains employees on various issues related to public purchasing.

Sustainability

Consistent with its responsibility to current and future generations, the Township has recommitted its efforts to sustainability by adopting a Green Purchasing Policy to minimize negative impacts on human health and the environment while supporting a diverse, equitable, and vibrant community and economy. Under the guidance of the QPA, Township employees strive to utilize practices in green purchasing whenever possible. A complete copy of the policy can be found here.

Looking Local

The Township spends approximately $18M on various goods and services each year. In 2012, the Township Committee initiated a "Looking Local First" initiative. Department heads are asked when purchasing goods or services to first look within the Township to see if they can make that purchase using a local vendor.

Local businesses who want to be considered for a future purchasing relationship with Maplewood can submit a Business Registration Form. Vendors wanting to be included should complete and submit the form online. They may also submit the form via fax at (973) 762-3645 or via email.
