Senior Citizen ProgramsThe Maplewood Recreation Department offers a variety of programs geared for Coed Seniors (55 & older).

Upcoming Programming: 

Watercolor 101- The Basics: 

Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30am-11am

Always wanted to learn this type of painting? Now’s your chance. Working with me you will learn about what types of paint to use and how, different brush types and why and when to use them, modifiers to add to paint for a variety of styles, paper choices, color theory, basic drawing and composition. When you finish this class you will be amazed at what you’ve created here.

Watercolor Botanicals (Intermediate):

Tuesdays 12pm-2pm

**This class is for those who have experience with the watercolor medium.** Let’s explore painting florals and botanicals in depth. Artists will learn about techniques, color choices and composition to gain confidence and skills in creating beautiful botanical art. We will also work on one large painting during latter part of the session at DeHart Community Center beginning November 14.

CraftClass:

Fridays beginning November 10 from 10am-11:30am at DeHart Community Center

This class will cover a wide range of crafting projects. We will explore printmaking without a press, fiber art, resin craft, alcohol ink art, mosaic art, embroidery, paint pouring crafts, air dry clay ornaments, handmade beads for jewelry, solar art card making and more! These projects will be sophisticated, wearable and giftable!
Come join this fun and creative group and learn lots of fun techniques and new materials.

Drawing Basics:

 Fridays beginning November 10 from 12pm-2pm at DeHart Community Center

This is not your regular drawing class! Here you will learn a lot of techniques and materials but also a wide range of drawing styles. We will cover portraiture, landscape, abstract, still life and what makes a drawing dynamic. Supplies will be provided. For both beginners & intermediate skill levels.

Pickleball Clinics

Develop your forehand, backhand, net play, and serving skills.
• Improve lobs and drop shots
• Improve your game with a different strategy
• Improve the selection of shots.
• Position the court more effectively
Learn the basics of pickleball (rules, rotations, and scoring) for beginners.
• Provides beginners with an open play environment to learn "how to play.

** It is recommended to bring your own pickleball racquet**
