The Area in Need of Redevelopment Study has been prepared for the Township of Maplewood Planning Board to determine whether one or more properties identified on the Township’s official tax maps as Block 12.02, Lots 100, 100.01, 169, 173, 174, 175, 175.01 and 176 (hereafter referred to as the “study area”) qualifies as a “non-condemnation area in need of redevelopment” as defined under the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL) at N.J.S.A. 40A:12A.

Township Action Steps: 

• The Township Committee authorized and directed the Planning Board to conduct this study by Resolution No. 88-23, adopted March 7, 2023.
• The Township Committee adopted the Investigation Study on October 2, 2023.
• The Township authorized consultants to draft a redevelopment plan.
• Two public community meetings were held in February and March 2024.
• The consultants will now draft their full redevelopment plan, after which the community and the governing body will have an opportunity to provide input.
