Our Parks and Facilities are available for use to the residents of Maplewood and South Orange.

Please follow the General Rules for Maplewood Parks if you are interested in holding an event at one of our facilities.

Renting a Field or Park

If you would like to rent a field or a park to have an event for less than 50 people, you need to:

  • If available, please print and fill out a Park Request Form. This form must be submitted to Niah Long at NLong@maplewoodnj.gov, Program Supervisor, at least two weeks prior to the date that you are renting you park. For prices and fees, please contact the Recreation Department at the above listed email address 
  • Once this is submitted, we will get back to you regarding the availability of the facility that you wish to reserve and get back to you as soon as we are able!
  • Please note that a copy of a Certificate of Liability Insurance is required for any event hosting more than 29 people. Fire permits are required for any outdoor flames being used to cook. Bounce Houses are not permitted.
  • Rental Fees for Parks: $20 per hour for residents, $25 per hour for non-residents. This is with a bring-in, bring- out policy meaning that anything brought into the park must be taken out by the permit holder (i.e. garbage, supplies, etc.)

Renting the Maplewood's DeHart Community Center

If you would like to rent space at the Maplewood's DeHart Community Center, you must contact Michelle Wesley at (973) 763-0750 to check the availability of your desired space and desired time.

Renting the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts

Renting The Woodland

Special Events

If you would like to hold an event for 50 people or more, you will need to:

  • Once confirmed that the space is available, you must fill out the Event Application. The fee for this application is $25.00. This application must be submitted to the Township Clerk 30 days prior to your event for approval. This application is to be circulated and approved by all departments within the Township with all necessary requirements including, but not limited to, a certificate of insurance naming the Township of Maplewood as the certificate holder, applicable rental fees, etc.
