New Jersey's Division of Family Development (DFD) supervises four programs that support New Jersey Families: the Child Care Assistance Program, the New Jersey Child Support Program, NJ SNAP and WorkFirst NJ.

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families Family Success Centers provide access to a large number of resources, including information on child, maternal and family health services, economic self-sufficiency, housing services, and parent education.

New Jersey's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is a public health nutrition program that provides education, nutritious food and improved access to health care and social services for low or moderate-income pregnant women, new mothers and children younger than five years of age.

The Essex County Division of Family Assistance and Benefits provides eligible individuals and families with temporary financial, medical and shelter needs through a network of support services. Call the hotline at 973-395-8000.

The Family Support Organization of Essex County is a family-centered, family-driven nonprofit organization that pro- vides peer support, education and advocacy for parents of children who have emotional, behavioral, mental health, substance use, intellectual and developmental challenges. Our goal is to empower parents and caregivers to take control of their lives by building on their strengths and supporting them as needed. NJ Helps will help you determine if you are eligible for food assistance (SNAP), cash assistance (WFNJ/TANF or WFNJ/GA), and health insurance (NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid). From there you can apply for services or learn about additional resources.

Lifeline and the Affordable Connectivity Program are federally sponsored programs that provide free smartphones and internet connectivity to eligible families.

Project Child Find is a free referral service that helps families concerned about their child's development, from birth through twenty-one years of age. For more information call the confidential 24/7 hotline at 1-800-322-8174.
